Metty's Story
Josiah and I met during my senior year of college. At the time, I didn’t know much about him or talk to him. He seemed really quiet and shy, and I didn’t exactly introduce myself either. The summer after I graduated college, we both went on group beach trips with our mutual friends, and he piqued my interest as I got to see a side of him that I had never seen before. He was goofy and kind, and a good friend. We got to know each other over time and began “talking” in December. We went on our first date on February 11, 2023, when we watched Brave and played Sequence with Emily and Noah. He asked me to officially be his girlfriend on April 22, 2023, at Dauphin Island. He had shown me how steady he is and how passionate he is about his faith and his convictions. I love his heart for always wanting to honor the Lord, and he has been able to lead me in doing the same. We have had many adventures over time since our first date: shooting on the 80, the battleship, beach trips, dancing at the gazebo, a London Mission Trip, going to Haleyville and Bay Minette, and more! I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Josiah after I saw how he loved me, how much he cared for me and others, and how consistently strong, steady, and level-headed he was and continues to be. I am so excited to marry him because of who he is and because I know he will always lead and point me to Jesus Christ.
Josiah's Story
I first remember meeting Metty in the spring of 2022, but at the time I didn’t know her very well. During that summer, I began to learn more about her as I was around her more, and I got to know her much better during some beach trips that we took as a group in August and September of that same year. We began talking in late December, and we went on our first date February 11th, 2023. By the time I asked her out I knew her pretty well and was really attracted to the way she loved and cared for people. As I got to know her even more these qualities became even more evident. She was a godly girl who always put others above herself and strove to be loving and kind to everyone. I asked her to be my girlfriend on April 22, 2023 on Dauphin Island. Since then we’ve had many fun times going shooting and having picnics in the woods, going to the battleship, going to the beach (and my favorite part going to Bucees, namely their cheese steak burritos), going to Five Rivers, dancing under the gazebo at Dayspring, going to London on a mission trip, going to the zoo, and going to Haleyville. After seeing how Metty always strives to live like Christ, not only loving me but also loving her friends so deeply and caring for people that she doesn’t even know, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.
